make a little room for me tonight
Surely I'm not the only one who's started to miss the Mystery Jets, I mean, 'Twenty One' was released two years ago now. But the good news is album number three is almost ready for release. Entitled, 'Serotonin', the recording of the album saw the band collaborate with producer Chris Thomas (Pulp, Sex Pistols, John Cale), and the finished product is set for a summer release, on 5 Jul via Rough Trade.
The guys are getting in a new release mood already, with a free download of 'Flash A Hungry Smile', the first track to be taken from the new album, available on their website right now. Although I'm not too fond of the artwork, which features a little too much chewed up food for my liking, the track shows the band at their quintessentially English indie-pop best, full of synths and catchy pop-ness.www.mysteryjets.com

the one I've got is shoddy, I need a brand new body
British folk artist Johnny Flynn released his debut album 'A Larum' back in 2008, and although we had the delights of last year's 'Sweet William' EP, it's good to hear he's now finished plugging away at his follow-up album 'Been Listening'.
Set for release on 7 Jun through Transgressive Records, the album was produced by Ryan Hadlock (who also worked on 'A Larum') and recorded with Johnny's band The Sussex Wit in London and Seattle. The album also features collaborations with his pals Laura Marling and Anna Calvi.
As a teaser, album track 'Kentucky Pill' has been made available as a free download; which seems like a perfect introduction to the new record and starts off sounding like the theme to a Western, brilliant. Currently on tour in Europe with Mumford & Sons, Johnny returns in May to tour the UK.

KASMs
Formed in 2007 by guitarist Rory Brattwell, following his stints in Test Icicles and RAT:ATT:AGG, KASMs are a post-punk four-piece based in Dalston.
Their sound has a dark melancholic intensity that's met with frantic high energy; kind of a goth-punk sound, with lead singer Rachel's vocals showing a hint of Siouxie Sioux. Their live shows are full of hurling-yourself-on-the-floor antics, making the band's harsh rhythmic songs sound all the more fun. In their own words, they describe their sound as 'shriekbeat'.
The band released their debut album 'Spayed' last year on Trouble Records, and it is up in full on their MySpace.
